Video Game News & Info

Welcome to Carla's Gaming Blog!
Hey there! Thanks for coming to check out my little space of gaming info. Most of my articles are going to be geared toward first time girl gamers, but there is information here for everyone.
Some background on my gaming career...Until High School the only video games I played were on my Atari 2600. My favorites included Demon Attack, Carosole, Land, Air & Sea, Pong and so many more. I loved my Atari.
In High School my aunt gave me the Sega Genesis with CD, the first of it's kind. My favorites for it were Dark Wizard, Streets of Rage, Kid Chameleon and Sonic.
My next console I bought myself, the special edition Star Wars N64. I played the hell out of Star Wars Racer, Rogue Squadron and Tekken.
I then transfered over to PC gaming for a little while, where I enjoyed Vampire: Bloodlines, Nox and Star Craft.
Now I am back to Console gaming. I currently own 2 Xbox 360s (my husband thinks one of them is his - silly boy), a PS3 and a Wii. I must admit the Xbox is my favorite, there are just so many things you can do with it.
So anyways, here I am playing games and writing reviews packed full of information for all gamers. Unfortuneatly there just are not enough female gamers in the world, and until girls learn to love gaming there will always be a huge divide between the sexes. I am here to help remedy that.
Not only will there be information on games, but there will also be information for gamers and their girlfriends and wives!
Hang out for awhile, grab a Mt. Dew, some Cheetos and come back often for updates!

Left 4 Dead: Survival Pack Review
On Tuesday, April 21stLeft 4 Dead, the popular zombie killing video game, released the Survival Pack for the Xbox 360. This has been the first and only DLC for Left 4 Dead to date, making it a high demand addition to the already fun game.
The Survival Pack includes 12 new Survival mode maps which test your team’s ability to withstand the hordes of fast running zombies, including the 4 types of special infected. In Survival mode you are given gas cans, propane tanks, pipe bombs, molotov cocktails and of course guns. You then figure out where your team feels is the most defensible location on the map and call the horde. Once you call the horde, you do not get a break.
Regular zombies run at you from every direction, while the Smokers pull you away from your team with their constricting tongues, Boomers spew bile on you attracting even more zombies, Hunters jump on you attempting to rip you to shreds as quickly as possible. Then there is the Tank, the largest and most feared of the special zombies. He is a huge muscle bound, Hulk type creature whose only concern is to incapacitate as many players as possible.
The highly awaited part of the DLC was not the Survival mode but the Verses editions of the Death Toll and Dead Air campaigns. In verses mode you take turns with another team playing survivors then special infected. The verses mode is the most popular of the Left 4 Dead Xbox Live features.
During verses the survivor’s team works together to get as many players as possible into the safe house. The infected team works together to keep the survivors from making it to the safe house. The survivors can be slowed down and attacked causing incapacitation or even death. This new DLC opens up the last two levels of campaign mode to house all sorts of zombie destruction.
Now that I have had a couple of days to play the new verses and survival modes I must say I am quite pleased with the work of all the programmers of Left 4 Dead. The two new levels of verses have some of the greatest hiding spots of all the maps for the infected and the map changes are just enough to keep everyone guessing for now.
Survival Mode is not as great as I thought it would be. It is fun to play through a few times, and it is great for learning how to work as part of a team. The guys I play with and I sat around the other night playing Survival Mode and quickly became bored and frustrated with each level. We plan to work together to earn a higher time score just so we can look good on the Leaderboards, but it is not something you want to play by yourself.
Overall, the Survival Pack download is well worth the time it takes to download it (only a couple of minutes) for two reasons: the new verses maps are awesome and, well, it’s a free download for anyone who owns the game. So stop whatever your doing and come meet me on Xbox Live.
